About us

Renovation of the PPN buildings in the PAV sector in Geneva Following a feasibility and programming study on this former industrial site at the Pointe Nord de la Jonction, the CPEG (Caisse de Pension de l'État de Genève) has mandated our architecture studio to carry out the transformation of these office and laboratory buildings. The project aims to redynamize the site and create new administrative areas for various services of the State of Geneva. Several buildings will be integrated into this first phase of renovation, including the emblematic 16-storey tour. We have made the choice of sobriety and energy efficiency to transform each of the 4 buildings in a specific way and thus put their personalities in value. Context and history of the project The old industrial building on the site, built in 1900 under sheds, became a train station. A second building of laboratories dating from 1920 was converted into smart offices with internal insulation allowing HPE certification while preserving the façades intact. The 3rd building, the most recent one, which housed the chemical laboratories, has been renovated to create large open and shared administrative spaces. The tour was the subject of a competition to renovate its façades; our winning project allowed us to build a THPE building in it. / The restoration of the materials The old granite and marble parts of the tour have found new uses The plaques of the faux plafonds des laboratoires have been adapted and integrated into the new project, as have the doors and the faux planchers. The mobilier of the old Firmenich site continued its journey with the association matériuum . Energy efficiency The site will soon be recharged via the Génilac network. Simple natural ventilation systems favor nocturnal ventilation during the winter. The internal structure of the buildings is designed to take advantage of the thermal capacity of the materials. It thus stabilizes the interior temperature and limits the temperature drop. Date: 2017 - 2023
