The project

L'archipel is a unique Third Place in Valais that aims to raise awareness among the local population about the circular economy and the importance of social bonds. Today, in order to limit our ecological footprint, we know that it is necessary to learn to "act differently". The team of L'archipel proposes to offer the population an inspiring, connecting and harmonious place where they can build together a more resilient future. L'archipel will include a resource store, an object library, a low-tech workshop, a restaurant, a consultation center, a conference room, a coworking space, multipurpose rooms, an exhibition of the models of the future Ronquoz21 neighborhood, meeting spaces and a forest garden to promote biodiversity.

Reuse of materials and elements

Materials dismantled from condemned buildings were largely reused to create the site. Floors made of three-ply larch wood were reused to build desks, tables and barriers. A mezzanine was built from beams and wood boards collected on site. Insulation was reused and is now used to insulate the uninsulated portions of the building.

Origin and removal of reused elements and materials

Materials currently collected locally or in the region.
