The construction industry must rise to the challenge of reducing its ecological footprint and developing and implementing resource-saving construction methods. Steel structures offer potential here on many levels.
Almost all the steel produced during the deconstruction of buildings is recycled (88%) or reused (11%). The event "Ecological, circular steel" is dedicated to the entire complex of topics of ecological optimization through the use of steel with various expert presentations.
The reuse of steel components or entire steel structures is an excellent option for the ecological optimization of steel structures. During the event, opportunities and possibilities will be highlighted using selected practical examples. Quality assurance is of central importance here. Particularly worth mentioning here are the consideration of the component history or the evaluation of the existing surface protection.
When designing new buildings, preference should be given to concepts that can be adapted to changing usage requirements. Here, steel structures offer an enormous advantage, as large spans can be realized, allowing plenty of space for adaptive room concepts. Further optimization of the life cycle assessment can be achieved by using so-called "green steels".
