Currently, many post-war housing estates are giving way to replacement buildings. As a result, affordable housing and urban diversity are being lost, and at the same time, new replacement buildings are generating large amounts of gray energy. Using the example of Bergacker, a 1950s housing estate in Zurich-Affoltern, we ask the question: What would be the alternative?
The Zurich Tenants' Association, baubüro in situ, the Urban Equipe association and students from the ETH Zurich have prepared a study that examines the settlement socially, ecologically, economically and in terms of urban development. The conclusion: A different future is possible in Bergacker - by building with the existing stock!
On November 7, various experts will give their assessment at ZAZ Bellerive. Afterwards, we will open the discussion around the question: How do we deal with the stock now and in the future and what does that mean for practice? Join the discussion!
